AfterLogic WebMail Lite .NET

This software provides a free client for many web based mail servers.

This is a free and easy-to-use ASP.NET webmail script with AJAX interface. The client is able to work with a large number of web mail servers that support POP3/IMAP accounts, SMTP, SSL (including Gmail) etc. The tool is open source and thus is completely free to use. Only problem could be the community based support, that usually works well most of the time. If you are going to need commercial grade support, you should obtain the Pro version. The program works with ASP.NET as well PHP pages. While the features available let you install a simple web mail client, the Pro version provides additional features that may be useful in your work settings. Installation is easily done through the web based installation wizard. The administration panel lets you manage system settings without having to edit config files manually.

The interface is really very simple and arranged nicely. The color scheme is quite pleasing too. One side of the interface is just the listing of the mail items and on the right side you have a reading pane that shows the text of the mail. The usual priority flag and other indications are available on the message listing. Farthest to the left you have the folder view that contains, besides the inbox, a sent folder, spam folder and the trash folder. Other usual control such as new mail, move to other folder, trash, mark as spam send mail etc. are also available. For a free piece of program this is really good, the quality of community contribution shows in the overall presentation and functionality of the product.
